Mike is a Yorkshireman and spent 39 years working for Midland Bank/HSBC in a variety of roles including Commercial & Agriculture Manager, Area Manager and finally Divisional Agriculture Manager responsible for Wales and the West Country. Following retirement in 2004 Mike became a Trustee of the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC). He began his involvement with HOPS in 2009 and was appointed a Non-Executive Director of HOPS Labour Solutions Ltd in January 2010. He has now relinquished his role as a Trustee of NFYFC having taken on the role of Chairman of the Board of Management in October 2010. Mike is a keen golfer and enjoys travel and photography in any spare time.


John brings a wealth of commercial experience to the board having been involved in arable farming, manufacturing, corporate asset finance and importation. He is currently a director for a private equity and venture capital company in the leisure sector based in Nottinghamshire. John is the Treasurer for the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs and a past National Officer. John’s limited spare time is taken up with a plethora of hobbies including tennis, golf, skiing and, more recently, motor sport.

Financial Director

Jim joined the HOPS staff team in November 2001, having previously temped at HOPS. He has a degree in History and Politics from the University of Leicester. Originally joining the team in an administrative capacity, he began doing bookkeeping work for HOPS in 2003 and has had a financial role ever since, sometimes mixed with IT support. Since the beginning of 2011 Jim has also been carrying out a similar financial role within HOPS’ parent organisation, the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs. Outside of work Jim is a keen long-distance runner and a jazz enthusiast.

Recruitment Officer

Sarah came to work as a Recruitment Officer at HOPS in August 2011, after temping here previously. Her employment history is mainly banking-oriented and she has a diploma in Criminology and Psychology. As the mother of three children and assisting in her family business, she is a very busy lady with a well-honed ability to multi-task

Administration Manager

Caryn joined the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs in 1995. She gained the London Chamber of Commerce Private Secretary’s Certificate in Leicester and, on leaving college, worked for the NatWest Bank Agricultural Office in Coventry. Caryn moved to HOPS in March 2000 and has since gained considerable experience in the provision of seasonal labour to the agricultural sector.

Recruitment & Marketing Co-Ordinator

Carly started working at HOPS in May 2016. Carly has experience in Recruitment, Admin and the Healthcare industry. Her enthusiasm and positive attitude mean that as a busy mother of three children, she still finds time to enjoy dancing Cuban Salsa.

Administration Officer

Celia has been with HOPS since March 2004 and has gained a wealth of experience within the agricultural seasonal labour market. Celia will generally be the first voice you hear when calling the HOPS office.

Recruitment Admin Assistant

Emma joined the HOPS team in October 2016 and has previously worked in Sales, Administration and Hospitality.
